#17, Descriptive Writing Exercise TWO

In this entry, we'll continue with the activity we did in class.  Write a description of an event from your childhood.  Leave out the topic sentence and concluding sentence in your paragraph, write just the supporting sentences.  At the top of your response, write down a guess as to the previous commenter's topic sentence.

I'll start with a memory from my days in high school,

The course is perfectly manicured, still wet from the morning dew.  The smell of freshly cut grass fills the air.  I step up onto the plateau and feel the soft, moist ground give way under the weight of my body.  As I step forward, my shoes leave the faint outlines of footprints in my wake.  At the top, I hear the whisper of the wind and the chatter of a few birds in the distance.  I stand alone and look off into the distance at a sea of green and mentally mark down my target, an oak tree that leans lazily to its left.  I reach into my bag and grab number one, the cold, coarse rubber is familiar to my fingers and brings me confidence.  I am ready.
