"Brother Alf remarked that Friar Hugo had excelled himself, as course after course was brought to the table.  Tender freshwater shrimp garnished with cream and rose leaves, devilled barley pearls in acorn puree, apple and carrot chews, marinated cabbage stalks steeped in creamed white turnip and nutmeg."

-Redwall (Brian Jacques)

Brian Jacques is a fantasy author most well-known for writing the Redwall series.  He is notorious for giving his readers hunger pangs through his descriptions of the delicious dishes in his stories.  His writing appeals to one's sense of taste, touch, and smell.

Descriptive writing paints a vivid picture in the mind of the reader.  The reader should be able to imagine how something smells, tastes, feels, looks, and sounds.  Look at the photo above and think about how the scene makes you feel.  Imagine how the atmosphere would engage your senses if you were standing on the sidewalk in the rain.

Write a response of a minimum of one hundred words describing the scene above.  Try to paint the picture in the reader's mind using your words.
