#150, Fifth

On Monday, February will come to a close as will fifth grade for many of you. Reactions to the end of grade five were mixed; some reported teary-eyed farewells while for others it was just another day at the office. Fifth grade is penultimate year of elementary school and one that does not necessarily carry the most import. Still, memories of friends and peers will linger long after the cold weather has departed.

This milestones in our lives often pass by without any fanfare. Though these moments feel like they should be more meaningful, they come and go without a trace.

To complete this Journal response,

  1. Take a moment to reflect upon your first day in fifth grade and the path you took to where you are today. Write a narrative response about a memory from fifth grade. Alternatively, you may write a letter to your fifth grade teacher.

  2. Comment on one of your peer's responses.
