#3, Manipulating the System

The strip above is from Bill Waterson's celebrated comic, Calvin and Hobbes.  Calvin is a pessimistic elementary student who is constantly in trouble at school.  In this strip, what is Calvin saying about education?

Lousy: [a] wretchedly bad, miserable

Manipulate: [a] to manage or influence skillfully, especially in an unfair manner

In university one has the option to study anything they wish.  Recently, more and more students have chosen majors (a particular area of study) that will give them the best opportunity for a job instead of majors that they are interested in.  Should one study a subject they are passionate about or a subject that will give them the best chance at getting a job?  Defend your position.
