  • Re-read the fear landscape scene in Divergent (ch. 30).

  • Find and copy one example of each metalanguage term (interiority, imagery, diction, tone) in your writing notebook with page number for two of her fears: drowning + killing her family. There should be 8 examples total.

NOVEL (30+ min.)

  • Read chapters 36–39 in Divergent.

  • Address the following in full sentences in your reading notebook:

  1. Write an example of Tris acting out her Abnegation values and Dauntless values in chapters 36 to 39.

  2. Where does Tris go after her mother dies?

  3. Why does Tris return to Dauntless headquarters?

  4. How does Tris’s father die?

  5. During their fight, why does Tris give Tobias the gun?

Turning Points

  • Read Urban Farming is Growing a Green Future (pp. 333–336) in myPerspectives.

  • Answer the Comprehension Check question (p. 337) in full sentences in your reading notebook or textbook.

  • Address Analyze the Text questions 1, 3 (p. 338). The responses should be 50+ words.
