We will play Kahoot in class to review the vocabulary for the lesson. If you’d like to play, please bring a device to class (e.g., laptop, tablet, smartphone). This is optional.

  • Complete 4A–4D in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 7.

  • Study for the quiz.

WRITING (20+ min.)

  • Complete the Student-Teacher worksheet that was handed out in class. A PDF of the worksheet may be downloaded HERE.

NOVEL (30+ min.)

  • Read chapters 11–15 in Divergent.

  • Address the following in full sentences in your reading notebook:

  • Answer Comprehension Check questions 1–3 (p. 327) in full sentences in your reading notebook.

  • Address Analyze the Text questions 1, 3 (p. 328). The responses should be 50+ words.

DEBATE (20+ min.)

  • Read Vocal Presentation (pp. 188–191) in Debating in the World Schools Style: A Guide. A PDF of the reading may be downloaded HERE.

  • Address the following in full sentences in your debate notebook:

  1. What is vocal presentation?

  2. What is the biggest issue with vocal presentation?

  3. How can you slow your speed?

  4. What is the most important element of volume?

  5. How can you vary your style of presentation?

  6. What is a style change?

  • Take notes on what you liked and disliked about the speaker’s style. Consider the different aspects of style:
