WRITING (30+ min.)
Write the first draft of your argument essay on the essay sheet that was handed out in class. A PDF of the essay sheet may be downloaded HERE. Reminders:
Prompt. How have you come of age since the start of 2023?
Academic Integrity. The essay should be written 100% original and written in your own words.
Length. The essay should be between 400–600 words in length.
Audience. 40+ peers and teacher will read your essay. Each essay will be published on the class website.
Essay Criteria
Viewpoint: Essay states a clear opinion and issues a call to action through argument based on evidence
Evidence: Editorial uses compelling evidence to supportthe opinion, and cites reliable sources
Analysis and Persuasion: Editorial convincingly argues point of view by providing relevant background information, using valid examples, and developing claims—all in a clear and organized fashion
Language: Essay has a strong voice and engages the reader. It uses language, style and tone appropriate to its purpose and features correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
Guidelines: Essay follows all guidelines and falls within the 400–600 word limit

How do you maintain effective eye contact?
