Hello 2025 Cohort!

The homework for classes from October 27 to 31 is below. Next to each assignment is the recommended amount of time to complete it with proper quality.

PEAI will celebrate Halloween in the second class of the week 🎉 There will be Halloween activities and trick-or-treating. All students are encouraged to wear a costume for the occasion!

Oct. 27–28 // Yearbook Class Photo Day 📸

Work Time: 90+ min.

JOURNAL (15+ min.)

  • Respond to Journal #101. www.brendenleeteacher.com/index

    • The journal post will be viewable Friday morning.

    • Journal responses should be 100+ words and 100% original.

VOCABULARY (20+ min.)

We will play Kahoot in class to review the vocabulary for the lesson. If you’d like to play, please bring a device to class (e.g., laptop, tablet, smartphone). This is optional.

  • Complete 13A–13D in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 7.

  • Study for the quiz.

WRITING (40+ min.)

*If you have any other props you think may be useful for the class photo, please bring them in!

BM1

Attire: Black shirts for boys and white shirts for girls
Props: crowns, scepters, gold/silver-colored accessories or decoration

BM2

Attire: blue jeans + your assigned color shirt
Props: anything related to video games

  • Write a draft of your response for the PEAI Yearbook on the essay sheet that was handed out in class. A PDF of the essay sheet may be downloaded HERE.

    • The response must be between 250–550 words in length.

  • Choose your quote for the PEAI Yearbook! Submit the quote and its source on Google Forms. https://forms.gle/gyeDrJ6wTpGD1HhS7

    • Quotes are limited to 100 characters total. Letters and spaces count as one character. https://wordcounter.net/character-count

    • The quote should be appropriate for a school yearbook. There should not be any profanity or slang. Use standard English.

    • e.g., “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” –Dr. Seuss (this quote is 78 characters)

NOVEL (15+ min.)

  • Purchase Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. We will begin reading the novel next week.

  • Watch the video “Autism Spectrum: Atypical Minds in a Stereotypical World.” https://youtu.be/j3PrAqJ-H9k

  • Address one or more of the following in full sentences in your reading notebook (50+ words/answer):

  1. What is your reaction to the video?

  2. What challenges do you think a sixth grade student with autism would face in South Korea?

  3. OPTIONAL: Describe your experience with someone who is neuroatypical.

  • Study for the quiz.

    • This vocabulary quiz will be done via Kahoot. All students will play individually. There will be 20 questions instead of the typical 14. Students without a device will need to take the quiz with paper and pencil.

GRAMMAR (15+ min.)

  • Complete the grammar packet (pp. 88–90) that was handed out in class. If you do not have it, please contact me via email.

READING (0 min.)
