#212, Return
Next week we will return to PEAI after more than three months away.
During that time we entered into the third wave of the coronavirus with daily new infections reaching record highs peaking at 1,237 on Christmas Eve. The government put Seoul into near lockdown at social distancing Level 2.5 and PEAI was indefinitely closed. Travel was nearly impossible and the holidays just weren’t the same without the presence of families and friends. In January, we started the year anew, in the virtual classroom, a first for PEAI students and teachers. It was a trying experience for all of us and one that proved a formidable challenge.
Now, on March 8, sixth grade will resume in the brick-and-mortar classroom once again. But it won’t just be business as usual. There is no question that this time has imprinted itself upon us and influenced the way we view PEAI and learning and ourselves. One’s personal learning preferences vary just as much as their taste for food. And you all experienced a completely different way of learning throughout the past twelve months. Look inward and ask yourself: How do I like to learn? As you grow older, you will be given greater independence and get to make decisions about how you learn.
