#150, Fifth

On Wednesday, February came to a close as did fifth grade for most of you. Reactions to the end of grade five were mixed; some reported teary-eyed farewells while for others it was just another day at the office. Fifth grade is penultimate year of elementary school and one that does not necessarily carry the most import. Still, memories of friends and peers will linger long after the cold weather has departed.

This milestones in our lives often pass by without any fanfare. Though these moments feel like they should be more meaningful, they come and go without a trace. With the passing of fifth grade, comes your last year in elementary school and your opportunity to be kings and queens of the land.

To complete this Journal response,

  1. Take a moment to reflect upon your first day in fifth grade. Write a response about how you changed from the start of fifth grade to the end.

  2. Comment on a peer's response.
