#144, Unsaid

Over the next few months, classes will ebb and flow with familiar faces departing for the summer and others returning. The time we have together often ends abruptly without a proper sendoff. Such is the life of students and teachers in South Korea. It is not uncommon to have several teachers throughout the year and to meet dozens of new students along your academic path.

As we move from one place to another, often there are words left unsaid to those who were dear to us. The opportunity to give a proper goodbye does not always present itself and we are stuck with words held inside that never escape our lips.

To complete this Journal response,

  1. Think about people from your past whom you left without expressing your thoughts. Write a letter to one of those people with the theme, "the words I never said." Format the letter as follows,

Dear X,

Hey guys, (or girls).. Sorry I didn't wave you good bye the day when you were toted out the door of my house by some strange man that I'll never forgive. Sorry because the only thing I did was to stand awkwardly, poised but paralyzed...incapable to move or say...the things I should've said when I saw you being carried out of my view...

Cordially/Regards/Sincerely/Yours truly/etc.

Y
