#126, Community

community n. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common

Over the past nine months we have developed a community at PEAI.  We learned and we struggled.  We laughed.  Sometimes, we cried.  A community does not simply form by itself, it needs care and concentrated effort from its members to thrive.  One of the most important ingredients of a healthy community is strong interpersonal relationships between its members.  These relationships impact our day-to-day emotional well being, but more importantly, they influence the personal transformations of the member within.

Our community is centered in Room 8, but it also exists digitally.  The digital community allows for a second form of communication and self-expression.  And though its members are the same, the online personas are not.  Words often come easier online than they do in person.  This week we will recognize a few particular outstanding members of our digital community.

To complete this week's Journal response,

  1. Look at the past few Journal posts and your peers' comments. Nominate one or two peers from your class as "Outstanding Digital Community Member". What are the characteristics that make them great members of the digital community?

  2. Comment on one of your peer's responses.
