  1. Find and copy one example of each metalanguage term (interiority, imagery, diction, tone) with page number from the zip line scene.

  2. Pick the moment that hit you hardest and write one sentence: what did it make you feel?

  • Read Chapter 3: Style (pp. 183–188) in Debating in the World Schools Style: A Guide. A PDF of the reading may be downloaded HERE.

  • Address the following in full sentences in your debate notebook:

  1. What does "style" refer to?

  2. What does the author mean by "being yourself"?

  3. When does your visual presentation begin?

  4. How do you maintain effective eye contact?

  5. What is good gesturing?

  6. What is effective stance?

  7. What are mannerisms?

  8. How would you describe your visual style (i.e., the way you look)? What aspects of your visual presentation would you like to improve? Write 50 words or more.
