The homework for classes from May 18 to 22 is below. Next to each assignment is the recommended amount of time to complete it with proper quality.


Attention Musicians!

PEAI is holding their 20 year anniversary this summer and is seeking musicians to take part in the celebration. If you’d like to participate, contact me via email or let me know in class. Details:

  • None

VOCABULARY (20+ min.)

PROJECT FAIR (40+ min.)

  • Write a script for your survival skill demo (this may be done digitally). It should be 2 min. or less in length. Flow:

  1. Hook. One action, one question, or one statement that immediately grabs the visitor's attention. Start in the middle of something.

  2. The Problem. Why does this survival skill matter? What happens to someone in the wild if they don’t know it? Make the visitor feel the stakes.

  3. The Skill. This is the heart of the demo. Not a lecture, a hands-on experience. Walk the visitor through what they are learning or doing, step by step.

  4. The Closer. What should they remember? What should they feel? End with something they will not forget.

  • Procure materials for your survival skill demo and trifold.

  • Print: (1) correlation matrix heatmap, (2) scatter plot chart for your positive correlation, (3) scatter plot chart for your negative correlation, (4) grouped bar chart for boys v. girls.

    1. Each element should be about half the size of a sheet of A4.

  • Read chapters 22–24 in The Hunger Games.

  • Complete 16E in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 6.

  • Study for the quiz.

    • The vocabulary quiz will be done via Kahoot. All students will play individually. There will be 20 questions. Students without a device will take the quiz with paper and pencil.

GRAMMAR (15+ min.)

  • Complete Practice 1–6 (pp. 50–52) in Understanding and Using English Grammar Fifth Edition.

READING (X+ min.)
