We will play Kahoot in class to review the vocabulary for the summative test. If you’d like to play, please bring a device to class (e.g., laptop, tablet). This is optional.

WRITING (20+ min.)

  • Complete the Student-Teacher worksheet that was handed out in class. A PDF of the worksheet may be downloaded HERE.

  • Final drafts of essays will be written in class. Please bring in a device to type with if possible (e.g., laptop, tablet).

NOVEL (30+ min.)

  • Read pp. 32–55 in The Five People You Meet in Heaven.

  • The Blue Man tells Eddie several important things about life, death, and connections between people. Address the following in full sentences in your reading notebook:

  1. Copy one specific quote (word-for-word) from the Blue Man that surprised you, confused you, or made you think differently. Include the page number.

  2. What do you think the Blue Man means? (2+ sentences)

  3. Do you agree or disagree with what the Blue Man is saying? (4+ sentences)

  • Read the "The Asch Conformity Experiments" (pp. 24–29) in Lift 3.

  • Address Understand and Analyze questions 1–6 (p. 30).

    • Q1–4: in the margins of the textbook (sticky notes okay)

    • Q5–6: in your debate notebook

  • Address one in your debate notebook:

  1. Describe one specific time when you went along with a group even though you weren't sure it was the right thing to do. What was the situation? Why did you conform? How did you feel afterward? Be specific—include details like where you were, who was there, and what exactly happened. (5+ sentences)

  2. Describe a situation in your life or school where you've seen the "Asch effect" happen—where someone went along with the group even though they might have disagreed. Be specific: Who was involved? What happened? How did you know they were conforming? (5+ sentences)
