The homework for classes from August 25 to 29 is below. Next to each assignment is the recommended amount of time to complete it with proper quality.

Work Time: 80+ min.

JOURNAL (0 min.)

  • None

VOCABULARY (20+ min.)

  • Complete 7A–7D in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 7.

  • Study for the quiz.

    • This vocabulary quiz will be done via Kahoot. All students will play individually. There will be 20 questions instead of the typical 14. Students without a device will take the quiz with paper and pen.

PRESENTATION (30+ min.)

  • Edit and revise your outline as is necessary. Outlining paper may be downloaded HERE.

  • Complete the first 6 slides of your presentation. Be prepared for rehearsal of those slides in class. You may use your outline during rehearsal. Bring your presentation file to class: (a) Share it with brendenleeteacher@gmail.com, (b) AirDrop, (c) Bring it on a USB drive. Slide requirements:

    • 1 slide: PNGs only

    • 1 slide: graph or chart

    • 1 slide: quote

    • 1 slide: personal photo with face visible

    • 2 slides (max): GIF or cinemagraph

To set slides to transition automatically:

Keynote: Select all of the slides. Click on the Animate tab. Set “Start Transition” to “Automatically” and “Delay” to 20 seconds.
PowerPoint: Select all of the slides. Click the “전환” tab. Set the timer on the right side labeled “다음 시간후” to 20 seconds.
Google Slides: It is not possible to automatically set the timer for 20 seconds, so presentations will need to be exported as a PowerPoint file.
Canva: Click on a slide. At the top, click the clock icon “Edit timing”. Set the timer to 20 seconds.

Unit 4:

People and the Planet

    • This animated short tells the story of a dapper young remittance man who is sent from England to Alberta to attempt ranching in 1909. A film about the beauty of the prairie, the pangs of homesickness and the folly of living dangerously out of context.

  • Address the following in full sentences in your reading notebook:

    • Compare and contrast the man's life in England to his new life in Alberta.

    • What truth does the Englishman discover about himself?

  • Read “Rethinking the Wild” (pp. 356–357) in myPerspectives.

  • Address the Summary and Quickwrite tasks (pp. 358–359) in your reading notebook or textbook. Each response should be 50+ words.
