The homework for classes from May 19 to 23 is below. Next to each assignment is the recommended amount of time to complete it with proper quality.

Work Time: 105+ min.

JOURNAL (15+ min.)

  • Respond to Journal #234. www.brendenleeteacher.com/index

    • The journal post will be viewable Friday morning.

    • Journal responses should be 100+ words and 100% original.

VOCABULARY (20+ min.)

  • Complete 15A–15D in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 6.

  • Study for the quiz.

PROJECT FAIR (40+ min.)

The 3rd slide of your presentation should look like this.

  • Write a speech outline/script for your section of the presentation in your writing notebook.

  • Prepare an 8 slide, 5 min. presentation about your findings from the District Survey data analysis.

  1. Title Slide. Introduce your team.

  2. District Background Slide. Introduce your district and describe it in detail.

  3. Correlation Matrix Slide. Display your correlation matrix, questions with antonyms, and general thoughts about the data.

  4. Finding #1: Positive Correlation Slide. Discuss the correlation, its range on the coefficient correlation value, and theories about the correlation.

  5. Finding #2: Negative Correlation Slide. Discuss the correlation, its range on the coefficient correlation value, and theories about the correlation.

  6. Finding #3: Boys vs. Girls Slide. Discuss the data for one question and theories about results.

  7. Finding #4: Birth Month OR Class Slide. Discuss the data for a particular month or class and theories about the results.

  8. Ending Title Slide. Summarize the presentation and offering closing thoughts.

NOVEL (30+ min.)

  • Read chapters 25–27 in The Hunger Games.

  • Address the following in full sentences in your reading notebook:

  1. What are muttations?

  2. How do the Gamemakers change the rules in chapter 25?

  3. What is Katniss and Peeta's reward for winning the seventy-fourth Hunger Games?

  4. Why is President Snow displeased with Katniss and Peeta’s victory?

  5. What makes Peeta so upset on the train ride back to District 12?

May 22–23

Work Time: 75+ min.

VOCABULARY (15+ min.)

  • Complete 15E in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 6.

GRAMMAR (20+ min.)

  • Review your class notes and grammar textbook for the test. You should be familiar with the following: subjects, verbs, compound subjects, subject-verb agreement, number (i.e., singular, plural), indefinite pronouns, collective nouns

PROJECT FAIR (40+ min.)

  • Write a step-by-step plan for your team's survival skill demonstration. The plan should be 100+ words. Gather materials for the demonstration. Reminders:

    • Demonstrate the importance of your survival skill. Persuade visitors of the importance of what you’re teaching them.

    • The survival skill should relate to your district's industry.

    • The survival skill should be useful in the real world.

    • The demonstration should be 1–2 min. in length.

    • Each team will have 3 desks to set up their booth and demonstrate their survival skill.

    • You may include a bonus activity related to your district for a prize. This is optional.
