The homework for classes from November 17 to 21 is below. Next to each assignment is the recommended amount of time to complete it with proper quality.

JOURNAL (15+ min.)

  • Respond to Journal #221. www.brendenleeteacher.com/index

    • The journal post will be viewable Friday morning.

    • Journal responses should be 100+ words and 100% original.

VOCABULARY (20+ min.)

We will play Kahoot in class to review the vocabulary for the lesson. If you’d like to play, please bring a device to class (e.g., laptop, tablet, smartphone). This is optional.

  • Complete 16A–16D in Wordly Wise 3000 Book 7.

  • Study for the quiz.

YEARBOOK (10+ min.)

  • Finish the class page on Canva! After 11:59 PM on Sunday the page will be exported as a PDF and finalized.

PRESENTATION (20+ min.)

  • Complete the Memory Board worksheet. A PDF of the worksheet may be downloaded HERE.

  • Choose a personal photo from 2025 (with you in it) to share with the class. (a) Share the photo via Google Drive, (b) send it via email, (c) bring it to class on an Apple device with AirDrop or a USB drive.

  • Write a 1–2 min. speech about the photo and its significance in your writing notebook.

NOVEL (30+ min.)

  • Read chapters 139–179 in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

  • Complete Practice 1–8 (pp. 118–121) in Understanding and Using English Grammar Fifth Edition.

READING (30+ min.)

Unit 5:

Facing Adversity

  • Complete the Think and Respond tasks on p. 168 in Lift 3.

  • Read Do Plants Feel Stress? (pp. 172–177).

  • Address Understand and Analyze questions 1–6 (p. 178) in full sentences in your reading notebook.

DEBATE (20+ min.)

  • Read the article “Why you should permit, and encourage, your teen to date.” A PDF of the article may be downloaded HERE.

  • Read the article “Teens who don't date are less depressed and have better social skills.” https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/09/190906134007.htm

  • Create a two column chart in your debate notebook. In the left column, write 3 assertions in favor of dating and in the right column 3 assertions in opposition of dating.

    • Include at least one piece of evidence in each column from the articles or another source.
